The Institute of Public Policy and International Development (IPPID) was formed to help build capacities and address urgent matters of human concern in Africa. Partnering with leading institutions and experts in South Africa and around the world, programs created by IPPID are designed to teach such essential leadership skills as analytical thinking, long-term planning, collaborative decision-making and problem-solving.

IPPID is collaborating with USB Executive Development (USB-ED), University of Stellenbosch Business School, to launch The Innovative Futures Programme in October. The program applies Stanford University's cutting-edge theory of Foresight and Innovation Strategy to policy development and industry by teaching executives how to tackle strategic challenges and become more effective in long-term planning. . In the U.S., leading corporations such as Microsoft and Volvo have established on-going training programs with Stanford that enable their executives to master the theory. Graduates of The Innovative Futures Programme will receive a certificate issued by Stanford Center for Professional Development. Course material will be jointly presented by the Center for Foresight and Innovation at Stanford University and by the hosting universities.

The format will be highly interactive, based on discovery and experiential learning. The objective is to deliver concrete outcomes for innovative product and service development.
